I miss the person I was 4 years ago, before I saw

I miss the person I was 4 years ago, before I saw up close the things some (very wealthy) people think they can pull off. I'll never be that person again and I miss her. As Thanksgiving is coming near, I am thankful for the memories of the person I used to be. Also: I am thankful for all the inspiration for my next book. Life works in weird ways sometimes. But weird isn't wrong.

Throwback to September 2022, 11 months before I re

Throwback to September 2022, 11 months before I rescued Kevin from the heatwave, when he was coming by to eat but wouldn't let me come closer. The boy now cries for pets every morning to wake me up (we've got traditions in this house) and makes biscuits in my lap. And splays on my yoga mat when I show the slightest inclination to do any exercise. Kevin finding me is the best thing that happened to me besides the publication of my novel. I love that boi.

A text I got yesterday from a good friend of mine. It can be daunting to have your friends read your book — what if they don’t like it? But I am overjoyed when friends reach out to tell me they loved THE PARIS UNDERSTUDY.

I know it looks like nothing and it’s definitely very rushed (I only had 15 minutes during lunch) but this is the first painting I have done in months and perhaps one or two years. Watercolor while blasting Bruckner Symphony No 4 from my laptop. Total bliss.
